Character is just as important as intelligence in this situation. On the other hand, it is the misfortune of a fool to fail in his attempts to achieve the position, employment, neighborhood, and group of acquaintances that are a good fit for him. We can only be happy to a significant degree if we make use of both our intellectual and moral faculties. Character is also required in addition to intelligence. In contrast, the folly of the fool is that he cannot find the place, the job, the community, or the friends that are best for him. The two ends of our potential—our character and our intelligence—are inseparable, and it's impossible to be fully satisfied with either one without the other.
